Dear Swansfield Community,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope that the first week of the school year has gone well for you and your student(s). It is hard to believe that this is the start of my 5th year as a Swansfield parent. Many things have changed during those years, but one thing has stayed the same . . . the wonderful Swansfield community. I am proud to be part of the Swansfield PTA that is working hard to support our school community and enrich it in many ways. You should have received a calendar of all of our activities at the open house. You can also find it online.
Our first community building event is coming up on Friday, September 6 at 6 pm. Come out with your family and enjoy our Back-to-School picnic. You can order a pizza through the online store or bring your own dinner as you reconnect with old friends or get to know new ones.
Our first PTA meeting will be on September 11 at 7 pm. Join us in person at the Swansfield Cafeteria or via Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/etp-gcck-ztq). Childcare and snacks will be available for those attending in person. Can I admit that I am not a huge fan of hybrid meetings? But we want to make sure everyone has the ability to participate in PTA meetings, so we are going to make this happen!
Please consider supporting the PTA by becoming a member or making a donation to the PTA. The PTA is always looking for volunteers to make all the events happen. Please reach out to Judy Solomon, Vice President of School Relations (vp.schoolrelations@swansfieldpta.org) to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
There are many ways that you can find out what is happening with the PTA even if you cannot make it to the PTA meetings. We will be producing this newsletter every other week. You can also find information, including meeting minutes, on the PTA website: https://swansfieldpta.org/ or on the PTA Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/groups/swansfieldpta.
If you have an idea for the PTA, please consider coming to a PTA meeting to share it or emailing the board (board@swansfieldpta.org). We are so excited for this school year and look forward to working with you to make it a wonderful one for our community.
Have a great long weekend!

PLASTIC RECYCLING SIGNUP
The Green Beanz (Swansfield‘s environmental team) are looking for volunteers to help with our NexTrex challenge! We are collecting plastic film to be recycled and made into different building materials such as benches, deckboards, and furniture. We’re hoping to collect 1000 pounds as we have done in the past two years. We need volunteers to pick up the plastic in the vestibule at the front of the school on Thursdays. Please look at the sign-up sheet below to pick a day, or two, if you may be able to help. Thank you so much!
